About Women鈥檚 History Month 

BG西游捕鱼 celebrates and honors contributions to American history and society. The month-long celebration started with Women's History Week in Santa Rosa, California, in 1978. The celebration, timed with International Women鈥檚 Day on March 8, spread nationwide. In 1987, the celebration was expanded to the entire month of March, thanks to the efforts of the National Women's History Project. .

International Women鈥檚 Day Breakfast 

Friday, March 7 | 9-11 am | ECC Metro 

Join us as we come together to recognize, uplift, and support women in our campus community. Come connect with colleagues over breakfast and meaningful conversation. We encourage you to attend and celebrate this occasion with us! This event is open and accessible to all campus community members.

Women鈥檚 History Month Drag Brunch 

Saturday, March 8 | 12-2 pm | Veterans Hall, Ellison Campus Center  

 

Celebrate Women鈥檚 History Month at our on-campus drag brunch! Join us for food, performances by local drag artists Maxine Harrison, Buster Pants, and Bozo; and a chance to win truly fabulous raffle prizes.  

All SSU community members and invited guests are welcome to come for fun, food, and an unforgettable show from our drag queens, kings, and things! Tickets will be available at the door for $10.

Behind the History: Women鈥檚 History Month Zine-Making 

Tuesday, March 11 | 5:30-7 pm | Berry Library Makerspace, second floor 

Hosted by: Intersectional Feminist Collective (IFC) 

Join the IFC as we dive into what makes Feminism! Uplift voices, ideals, and values that have shaped the feminist movement through creative expression. All works will be compiled into a zine that will be donated to the Library鈥檚 digital repository.  

 

The Boston Women's Heritage Trail: The Future is Hers

Saturday, March 15 | 11 am at BPL Connolly Branch (Jamaica Plain)

 In 1989, a group of Boston Public School teachers and students decided to highlight the overlooked contributions of women to Boston鈥檚 history. Modeled after the Freedom Trail and Black Heritage Trail, the celebrates the past accomplishments of remarkable women in Boston, claiming their rightful place in our City鈥檚 history through education, reflection, and an interactive city-wide monument.

 

Women鈥檚 History Tour

March 15, 16, 22 and 23 | 1:15-2 pm | The House of the Seven Gables

From the Indigenous women who worked the land to our organization鈥檚 founder, women have always been a part of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion鈥檚 history, but not always given the spotlight they deserve. The House of the Seven Gables has created a Women鈥檚 History Tour to focus, in-depth, on the many women who have lived and labored in the Mansion. .

 

SMART Girls Summit  

Wednesday, March 26 | 8 am-1:30 pm | Girls Inc. of Lynn | 50 High Street, Lynn, MA

Girls Incorporated of Lynn is looking for volunteers for the SMART Girls Summit. Volunteer shifts are available, and transportation will be provided from Salem State to Lynn. for a volunteer shift today.

Women鈥檚 Employee Resource Group (WERG) Luncheon 

Wednesday, March 26 | 12:30-2 pm in Marsh Hall Petrowski Room (210) 

Please join us for a conversation facilitated by Ken Ardon, Professor in the Economics Department on financial literacy鈥攁n essential topic for personal and professional growth. This is a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and engage in a meaningful discussion. If you have specific questions or topics you鈥檇 like covered, please contact Amilya Putzig. 

Please grab lunch from the dining hall before heading up鈥攊t will be covered! This campus event is open and accessible to all members of the campus community.
