Whether you’re here for an admissions tour, cheering on the Vikings at Alumni Field, watching a performance onstage or doing research in the library, Salem State welcomes members of the community to campus.

All vehicles parked on campus must be properly permitted, including non-metered guest parking. Electric vehicle charging is available in the O’Keefe lot, behind Viking Hall, in the Parking Garage, and just outside of the parking garage.

Admissions Visitors

Undergraduate and graduate admissions are located at 331 Lafayette Street. Campus tours also depart from the second floor of 331 Lafayette St.

Attending an On-Campus Event

Parking for athletics, arts and community events varies by the size and location of the event. Please contact the event organizer for specific information on parking before you arrive on campus.

Additional Campus Visitors

Short-term visitors to the university are allowed to park in designated areas or other areas as directed by university police officers. Visitor passes may be obtained by contacting the university police department. All visitor cars must have passes displayed. Visitor passes can be requested in advance by e-mail with at least 48 hours notice. With less than 48 hours notice please visit the police station in person to obtain the visitor pass. 

All visitor passes will require the following information:

• Date, time and location of visit
 
• Person or department
• Contact name and number of the driver of vehicle
 
• Vehicle info to include plate, make, model, and color

Any visitor vehicles in violation of parking or operating rules and regulations may be subject to citation and/or towing. BGÎ÷Óβ¶Óã assumes no responsibility for damage to any vehicle or its contents for any cause, including towing for violation of rules and regulations. Visitor parking is at the operator's risk.

Move-In, Move-Out Periods

During normal move-in and move-out periods, such as the beginning of the fall semester, beginning and ending of the holiday break and the end of the spring semester, allowance will be made for the loading and unloading of personal possessions in areas usually banned to parking up to a maximum of 30-minutes per vehicle. Information may be obtained from the university police. During these times, vehicles must not be parked so as to block fire lanes, fire hydrants, handicap spaces, or in a manner that restricts the flow of normal traffic.

Parking and Traffic Policies and Fines

All persons parking on BGÎ÷Óβ¶Óã property do so at their own risk. BGÎ÷Óβ¶Óã is not responsible for theft or damage to your vehicle. Lock your vehicle and do not leave valuables in plain view. Designated parking areas are for authorized and permitted parking only with limited exceptions for special events.

Vehicles that are not parked within the designated permit area are subject to ticketing and towing. In an effort to ensure compliance with the university parking regulations, the university police department has added dedicated parking enforcement officers.
